Riding On Your Fears: A Manson Murders Essay

My latest book takes a look at a few of the unsolved mysteries surrounding the murders committed by Charles Manson and his infamous “family.”  Riding On Your Fears delves into the roots of Manson's philosophy, his modus operandi and his drug use, as well as discussing Manson anecdotes, rumors, and urban legends. Includes original illustrations by Chadwick St. John.  Available only at: Lulu.com.

On the afternoon of November 28, 1969, 22-year old Betsy Aardsma was stabbed to death while conducting research in the Pattee Library at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania.  Her killer has never been caught.  In the years following her death, there have been at least two reports of a ghostly presence in the Pattee Library which many attribute to the horrible event that occurred there.

Labyrinth13 presents The Ghost of Betsy Aardsma.

I have added a new page that includes a series of mirrored articles, images, and video clips featuring details about the unsolved Colonial Parkway murders, the Route 29 stalker case, and the Shenandoah Park murders in Virginia.  These crimes occurred over a ten year span of time, beginning in 1986 with the Colonial Parkway murders and seemingly ending with the 1996 murders of two hikers in Shenandoah Park. It is possible that a serial killer or killer(s) is responsible for these murders.

These days, role-playing games are widely known and, despite the advent of modern computer games, remain very popular. Although considered to be harmless fun, things were not always that way. Role-playing games - and Dungeons & Dragons in particular - were once demonized by the mainstream media and vigorously condemned by fundamentalist religious groups with the claim that the games led to demonic possession, suicide and murder.

Labyrinth13 presents a mirror article of The Disappearance of James Dallas Egbert III, supplemented with photos and video.

The fog-enshrouded castle, the crumbling family manor; old secrets unveiled, curses cast, chains clanking, the mysterious stranger, the young governess, fear and trembling, murder, madness, dread, decay, disintegration, death . . . all are trademarks of the well-crafted Gothic tale!

Labyrinth13 is proud to present the latest video archive entry for your viewing pleasure: In Praise of the Gothic Novel.

Lo! 'tis a gala night within the lonesome latter years! An angel throng, bewinged, bedight in veils, and drowned in tears, sit in a theatre, to see a play of hopes and fears, while the orchestra breathes fitfully the music of the spheres.

Labyrinth13 is proud to present: A Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe, featuring selected poems and videos in honor of the master of the macabre.

During the Victorian era, the use of opium and the effect that it had on the imagination of writers was quite profound.  Many of the most famous writers, poets, and artists active before and during the Romantic Movement were users of the drug, including Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, and Oscar Wilde.

I have created a video and written a brief synopsis of the infamous Max Headroom pirating incident. This occurrence concerns the unidentified person who actually hijacked a television signal in the Chicago, Illinois area in 1987 in order to transmit an illegal "pirate" broadcast on live television.

Here is a short article that I have written about the 1977 Vrillon of the Ashtar Galactic Command Incident.  "Vrillon" was the name used by an unidentified voice who performed an illegal broadcast on television transmitters in the United Kingdom on Saturday, November 26, 1977 at 5:10 p.m.  Included is a concept video that I created using a recording of the actual broadcast.

The phenomenon of so-called "number stations," mysterious shortwave radio broadcasts that seem to exist only to transmit spoken-word numbers, snippets of weird songs and enigmatic codes, is a genuine mystery.

Labyrinth13 is proud to present: Number Stations: Dark Side of the Dial.

"I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness."

Labyrinth13 very proudly presents: Hanging with the Goth Kids, selected scenes from the show South Park, as well as classic episodes of Goth Talk, Hope is Emo, music videos, television commercials, and more!

I have created a new section to the website called Other Writings and Works of Interest

There I have published some old journal entries describing my own personal experiences with strange phenomena, as well as other interesting incidents that have fired my interest. (Includes a written account detailing the time I lived in a haunted house in Atlanta, Georgia and encounters with unexplained phenomena while traveling through the area known as the Bermuda Triangle).

One of the most enduring legends of rock and roll is the old rumor that Paul McCartney of the Beatles was decapitated in a car crash at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 1966.  Many of the "clues" to Paul's death were said to have been recorded directly into the Beatles own songs.

Labyrinth13 is proud to present: A Fine Natural Imbalance: An Exploration of the "Paul is Dead" Mystery via the Audio Clues.

It was with great sadness that Labyrinth13 reported the July 16, 2005 passing of friend and fellow Fortean researcher Mark Chorvinsky (1954 -2005).

Mark was not only my inspiration, but he also gave me my first real break into the world of writing by printing one of my "Letters to the Editor" in an early issue of the print edition of his famous Strange Magazine. A correspondence between he and I soon developed, with Mark insisting that I supply him with more stories and as a result, I eventually became a Strange Magazine correspondent. Mark's prompting would ultimately lead to my writing my own book, which might not have occurred without him serving as the catalyst. I owe Mark my deepest thanks for this and for all of the encouragement that he gave me over the years.

Check out the virtual scrapbook for my old band The Tombstones, Atlanta, Georgia's premier deathrock band from 1986-1987.

The original lineup of The Tombstones composed many songs and produced a six song EP titled Grave Matter. (Sample songs available for download).
